decomposeParDict errors when deleted

I'm not running my case in parallel, why does my meshing crash when I erased the file?

lovecraft22 April 3, 2012 14:44

Don't know why but sHM checks that file anyway so you need to leave that where it is.

Rider April 4, 2012 04:48

Can you copy your error message here ?

lovecraft22 April 4, 2012 05:01

Code:

--> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR:
cannot open file

file: /home/ubuntu/Desktop/condivisa/8_cilindro/system/decomposeParDict at line 0.

    From function regIOobject::readStream()
    in file db/regIOobject/regIOobjectRead.C at line 87.

This is mine, that is what you get when you do not have any decomposeParDict within you system folder.

Bernhard April 4, 2012 07:45

Which utility are you trying to run here?

lovecraft22 April 4, 2012 07:57

sappyHexMesh

mihaipruna April 4, 2012 09:08

could this in any way be related to my other post where I stated that you cannot have more than two SHM instances running at the same time?

alberto April 5, 2012 11:54

This is just because snappyHexMesh meshes on multiple processors/cores.

mihaipruna April 5, 2012 13:07

I see...does that apply to solvers as well?

alberto April 5, 2012 14:31

No. Solvers and other utilities in general do not require a decomposeParDict.
