Hi!

As I was in another session I could not attend the "SIG Documentation and Verification & Validation" session during the Workshop.

Could anyone tell me whether any concrete efforts towards V&V were discussed?

Bernhard

Hi Bernhard,

actually I was hoping and waiting for someone providing a reply (the V&V contributions to the documentation project will be an important part of the project and any help would be appreciated!). Anyway...

Yep, we have discussed the V&V. Actually for *documentation* of reference and test cases the documentation project or Wiki will be the right place. However, to host and test we need to carefully assess the purpose and capacities necessary (test harness). The current status is that we (Bernhard Linseisen and me) thought of the ERCOFTAC data base. AFAIK, Bernhard has already contacted Prof. Rodi (KIT Karlsruhe) in this regard...

best regards,
Holger

I am sorry for not answering earlier, as just right now I stumbled over this thread...

While I forwarded Prof. Rodi's (positive, yet demanding) answer to Holger, the short version is like this:
- They would be happy about new validation cases -- as long as these fulfill certain requirements:
- The information has to be prepared following one of two templates
- The validation case has to contain experimental and numerical data
- A Best Practice Advise is highly important

Concerning the data, it is preferred to store actual data files, though sometimes also plots of the data are accepted.

Further information can be found at
http://qnet-ercoftac.cfms.org.uk/w/index.php/Main_Page , the entry page to the ERCOFTAC-Wiki...

Unfortunately during the last months I did not really have too many possibilities to work on validation. But I think some things will be coming soon concerning rhoPimpleFoam. ;-)
