Hello guys,

This year we did lots of simulations about the liquid-liquid dispersions in stirred tanks. We employed the semi-conservative two fluid model (implemented in OpenFOAM-2.2.x) and the Quadrature based method of moments to predict the droplet size distribution (DSD).

Results:

Our results show that the predicted DSD agrees well with the experiments. However, we notice that the predicted Power number by the turbulent model is under-estimated. This comes from the standard k-epsilon turbulence model. This under-estimation is reported extensively in other literature as well. For now we apply a kind of correction on the turbulent energy dissipation rate to handle the problem.

this is a very interesting work! Is the the implementation of your model in OpenFOAM freely available by any chance?
