Validation using flow around Cylinder

1 Attachment(s)
Dear all,
I am a new user of OpenFoam, so sorry if my questions are somewhat silly.
I am currently trying to validate my case using a flow around a cylinder, however I am unable to get the desired Cd values, in a range of Re [1000; 80000]. FYI, I am varying the Reynolds through speed. The fluid used is water. For this simulation, I am using a cylinder of 1m in diameter. I'm using pimpleFoam with kOmegaSST as a turbulent model.
My questions are as follows:
1. If you want to do a 2D simulation, how to create the mesh using snappyHexMesh, since the blockMesh is not very user friendly.
2. Having a y + <1 should I use omegaWallFunction, nutWallFunction, kqRWallFunction? If not, what should I bring into its place.
3.In this Reynolds ranges, which solver should I use, Euler, CrankNicolson,..
4. It would be beneficial to change the turbulent model?
Does anyone have any similar case studies that I can compare to.
My case studies and the steps are attached.
Regards,
José.

Quick answer: I haven't managed to look into your post properly and the attachment you provided, but based on the information you sent me via PM, let me suggest that you study this tutorial/example: http://matveichev.blogspot.com/2014/...ex-street.html

He made a mesh study and discretization schemes, which should answer to a good part of your questions.

If after that you still have questions, please ask them in your next post ;)
