how to plot V,p,F... in OpenFoam

Default how to plot V,p,F... in OpenFoam

Hi everyone,

I am a new user of OpenFOAM and even linux system, I just download OpenFOAM 2.1.0 and Paraview from its official website and start to learn it.

I began with the tutorials inside the package and run some simulations. My question is, take Dambreak case as example, in Paraview I could only see how the situation looks like, is there any way to plot the velocity at a fixed point against time? and what's more important, where can i find the forces vs time on the dam?

I'll give you just the buzzwords because there are enough discussions about this on the forum:

Velocity at point: look for the "probes" functionObject here on the forum
Forces: there is a "forces"-functionObject. I'm not sure how well it plays with interFoam.

Hello Gschaider,

I have tried to add force function in ControlDict file but it did not work since it was said that
error:keyword nu is undefined in dictionary
I did some search in this forum and it seems that there's some other guy have the same problem.
Do you have any idea about how to solve it?

I'm afraid forces only works for non-multiphase-solvers (it tries treating interFoam as an incompressible solver and fails). Either someone programmed a interFoces-function object (I'm not aware of that but look around. It is not a totally excentric application) or you'll have to do it yourself. One possibility would be using the patchExpression-functionObject of swak4Foam which allows evaluating arbitrary expressions (as long as the fields exist) on patches.
