porousBafflepressure BC

Hey everyone !

I'm new on this forum and quite beginner on Openfoam.
I used to work with Fluent or Star-CD since many years, and my first experiences with OpenFoam are very encouraging but now, I can't go further without a little help...

I know that this problem has already been discussed in the forum and I let a reply on another thread. But, to be sure that everyone can see it, I open a new thread.

I want to simulate a pressure loss as for a filter and I try to use the porousBafflePressure BC on a simple case (for the moment).

This case is very simple, to begin, with an incompressible flow, no heat transfer, one phase, etc... It's just a cylinder including a normal surface supposed to act as a filter.
This same model works fine with the fan BC with simpleFoam but I am unable to make it work with the porousBafflePressure BC under porousSimpleFoam, for instance...

I have modified my controlDict file by adding a lib reference as in the example of the dambreakPorousbaffle ("libturbulenceDerivedFvPatchFields.so") but it doesn't work.

My questions are :
- Do have I to use interFoam to use this porousBaffle BC, even with a so simple case ? In this case, where can I fond a good explanation for the use of this solver ?
- If not, where can I find a detailed explanation of what to do to use it ?

Thank you very much for your answers or help !!

Hello again !

I admit I played at the apprentice's sorcerer (litterally translated from french  ) and I regret a little, but now, I am able to launch the computation. It crashes, but I think now it's due to my model or the values of the BC.

Anyway, I think it can be useful to other member that I explain what I've done :

From the model which worked with the Fan BC (with the good conditions for U, ... of course !) :
- I changed the definition of the boundary conditions in the 'p' file, by copying those given in the example with porousBafflePressure (see upper).
- I also added the file 'changeDictionaryDict' in the System dir., with the same values as in the 'p' file.
- I added the library info in the controlDict file :
'libs
(
"libturbulenceDerivedFvPatchFields.so"
);'

I used the solver porousSimpleFoam and it worked. The computation begins. At this stage, the calculation crashes after several iterations and I have to find why, but it's a real progress ! :)

If someone can tell me if I forgot something, it could be great !
Or if someone can tell me where it's possible to find a good explanation on how to use all these parameters...

Thank you very much for your help or further information !

Bye !

Laurent
