Hi Cloudy,

Welcome to the Forum.

When it come to the modelling of free surface water waves, you have several options, as is presented in the training material by Eric Paterson from the OpenFoam Workshop earlier this year:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/open.../EricPaterson/

Myself, I have contributed with the waves2Foam toolbox (http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib/waves2Foam), which is also discussed in his material.

In the test cases also from Eric's material, there are one/some tutorials, which is discussing the wave-floating body interaction. This combination would be a good starting point.

With respect to the spring/damping, then I am not aware if any library for mooring lines is available out there. Otherwise, you will have to implement it for yourself and parse the computed forces into the 6DOF library.

Kind regards,

Niels

Hi Niels,

THanks for ur reply,
Could you supply me any tutorial of any other compilation in 6DOF library so that I can learn how to add srping/damping forces into it myself.

MAny thanks,
Cloudy

Hi Cloudy,

No, I cannot help you in that regard, as I was merely aware of the possibilities, whereas I have never used it myself.

Kind regards,

Niels
