New USer of OpenFOAM: How to run tutorials
Hi All,
I want to use OpenFOAM on a Windows machine. I have installed the Oracle Virtualbox (and Ubuntu on this virtualbox). Then installed the latest version 2.1.1 of Open FOAM. In the home folder I have a folder with name "OpenFOAM" which contains "user-2.1.1" --> "run"-->"tutorials"-->"basic"; "combustion",....and so on. Can someone please explain me how to run a Tutorial. I am unble to get stareted. Please help me. Thanks in advance |
Usually,
each tutorial folder contains a `AllRun' file, which is executable. Just open a termina, change directory until the right one and then digit "./AllRun" (without the quotes!).. Is that clear? |
As soon as this works you probably will like to do the different steps on your own.
For this, open the Allrun-file with a text-editor of your choice. In most cases each line is a command. Execute each line on its own and see what it does. Maybe I find some time to write some basic information on what the different commands do, but I think everything should be in the Users-Guide as well, if I remember correctly. You will find the users-guide in OpenFoam/doc/guidesa4/usersguide.pdf or so. The folder "doc" is one of your mightiest friends within OpenFoam. ;-) |
