diesel engine combustion simulation

I want to simulate diesel engine combustion processes(including compression and pollution) in a common rail diesel engine . But I don't know how to start although I have run some examples such as dieselFoam and icoFoam. It's really hard for me to understand the source code.
Do I have to use dieselEngineFoam solver?
How to model exhaust formation processes from diesel engine in OpenFOAM like KIVA does?
Could somebody give me some advice in detail about how the simulation is realized in OpenFOAM?

So it is a big question you are posing.
The first step for you would be to put dieselFoam into engineFoam and learn how the engine is moving and how the spray is working.
If you google dieselEngineFoam + openfoam you will have a lot of hits. I guess you didnt do that since you posted this.

Rickard

Thank you1 Could you please tell me how to combine dieselFoam and engineFoam in detail? What files do I have to copy from these two folders to form dieselEngineFoam?

If you just look at sprayFoam and engineFoam you quickly realize how sprayEngineFoam works.
old versions: you look how enginefoam and dieselfoam works and then you understand.

Just to clarify, sprayEngineFoam is for engine combustion with any liquid spray.
