Is there a software that couples p and U?

Hi all,

I am facing an interesting problem and I can't get convergence.

I think that the problem is in the numerical resolution. I would need a scheme that couples p and U.

Is there such a scheme in OF?

Thanks a lot,
Samuele

Hi
Do you really mean scheme? or coupling algorithm?

samiam1000 October 8, 2012 04:22

Let's say coupling algorithm!

Hi
I am confused what really you want but there is SIMPLE, PISO and ... algorithms in OF.

samiam1000 October 8, 2012 05:27

Yes,

I know.

But AFAIK, both simple and piso solved the P field first and then the U field, is that correct. I know that in fluent there is a solver which solved the U and P field together at each iteration.

Hi
Now I understand you. Is your problem compressible or weakly compressible?

samiam1000 October 8, 2012 05:32

Ok.
Sorry, I didn't explain the problem well.

Anyway, my problem is compressible

ata October 8, 2012 05:38

Oh!
As I know unfortunately there is not such solver in OF.

samiam1000 October 8, 2012 06:12

And do you have any suggestion for a weak-compressible problem?

ata October 9, 2012 06:48

Hi
Not specific offer just using a compressible equation of state and setting Match number low to be weakly compressible.

OpenFOAM extend offers a block-coupled solution strategy. Unfortunately, that's all I know about it ;) Google block-coupled-matrix...

Thanks.
I'll google it as soon as possible.
