Hello to all!

I am using twoLiquidMixingFoam solver of OpenFoam v-2.0.1. This solver is originally for unsteady state simulations. But, I want to use it for steady state simulation. Here, my questions are: whether it is possible to use an unsteady state solver to steady state or not? If possible, then how should i implement the solver code to steady state simulations?

If any one knows the answer of these questions please reply me as soon as possible.

Thank you

Hi there, Neetu

I have not used twoLiquidMixingFoam, but I have done this for interFoam, with success (i.e. analytical solution and interFoam show the same result). However, the only downside is much longer computational time needed. There is a special time independent interFoam (don't remember the name) which is much much faster.

If you do this, I recommend reduce your time step and Co number in controlDict, to maintain stability, as well as reduce the tolerance values in fvSolution.

The best approach is if you have any simple analytical case in which you can benchmark your time independent approach.

Hi Jon,

I am also interested in turning interFoam into steady state solver, isit possible for you to help by briefly outlining how you implemented this.

Kind Regards

Hi Rimsha
sorry for the late reply, ... was off from work

For interFoam, there is a steady state alternative called LTSInterFoam
If memory serves me right, then it was first implemented in the OF 2.0,
(is at least still available in 2.3.1).

Use that solver, and check the tutorials folder for examples

Cheers

Hiya,

Thanks a lot for the reply Jon, highly appreciate it, i will look into the solver and tutorials.

Kind Regards
