Default dieselengineFoam solver... not present in OF-2.0.1...

Hi

I would like to simulate the variation in injection time schedule in a Diesel engine.

I remember that in OF-1.4.1-dev there used to be a DieselEngineFoam solve, but it is no longer present in OF-2.0.1

I have checked and there is no OF-2.0.1-dev release either, can someone please tell me where to find the latest OF-x-dev release, and how to compile it...?

The one i have presently in my PC is the 2.0.1 release, and has been compiled with Icc compilers...

If you do have 2.0.1 installed:
  • Solver code is located here: $WM_PROJECT_DIR/applications/solvers/combustion/dieselEngineFoam
  • Solver binary is located here: $FOAM_APPBIN/dieselEngineFoam
  • There are no tutorials that use this solver in OpenFOAM 2.0.1.
Now, since you mentioned 1.4.1-dev, then you should be looking for 1.6-ext, which is provided by the Extend Project: http://www.extend-project.de/

I've just checked 1.6-ext and the solver is placed in the same place; and I didn't find a tutorial for it either.

Keep in mind that in Linux DieselEngineFoam is not the same as dieselEngineFoam
Linux (usually) uses a letter case sensitive file system, while Windows and Mac OS X use a letter case preserving file system. The reason is pretty simple: Windows and Mac OS X pride themselves in being user friendly, while Linux prides itself in doing things the right way :P ... And when it comes to CFD, you better do things the right way, or else...

Thanks

I know that in *nix, Diesel* is different from diesel*, it was just a typo...

Anyway, I think i will try to build a tutorial out of dieselFoam and engineFoam definitions, but i guess engineGeometry is different and incorporates the definitions of injectorProperties from dieselFoam...

Will have to search a bit on this...

I want to simulate dual fuel diesel engine with OpenFOAM. can I simulate this with dieselEngineFoam? If not, which solver I must use?
If I can use dieselEngineFoam, can I use (CH4) mass fraction in initial condition such as O2 and N2?
I want to calculate heat release rate (j/s), but in dieselEngineFoam output, dimension of dQ is (kg/(m^3*s)). How can I calculate heat release rate (j/s)? Do I have to change code?

hi

i want to compile porousInterFoam( for multiphase case) in openfoam 2.0.1, this solver exist in of 1.7 but not in 2.0.1 !! what should i do to compile this solver to this version of openfoam?
i haved installed of 2.0.1

But porousInterFoam does exist in OpenFOAM 2.0.1!
If you are looking for the source code for it, run the following command, which will tell you where it is:
