2D sprayFoam Problem

Hi foamers,

I am trying to simulate diesel spray combustion using sprayFoam and try to have it validated with one of the experimental data from Sandia. The tutorial aachenbomb with one reaction works well in 3D. However, it takes forever when I implement it with detailed chemkin mechanism developed by LLNL. To save time, I tried to do the same with 2D modeling by assigning front and back patch as empty. I tried with the one reaction mechanism first to make sure that it has no difference. But to my frustration the simulation result turns out that the combustion characteristic and pressure are way different between 2D and 3D.

Is the anything else I have to do change in fvSolution or fvScheme other than blockMeshDict?

On another strange problem I'm having. Injected mass is correct with single processor. But when I run it in parallel with 8 processors, the injected mass is way different from the set value. This problem goes away when I run it with 4 processors. I used scotch method for domain decomposition and I'm running on a laptop with i7 with 8GB ram.

Any clue on wats happening will be GREATLYYYYY appreciated.

Regards
RJ

Anyone with experience in 2D simulation with OpenFOAM could me with this?

I have read somewhere that the simulation solve in 2D with OpenFoam has to be non-dimensionalized. Could that be the reason why the result obtained from 2D and 3D are so different?
