Hi all,

I have a question to you all due to the lagrange solver.
My new Project is a hydrocyclone with particel Simulation.

Last year I simulated a hydrocyclone (just flow field) and now I have a new cyclone design and want to simulate the flow field and particel tracking in the cyclone.

First question

- Particels are nonreacting, so is it possible to create the flow field first ( simpleFoam ) and after it using icoUncoupledParcelsFoam for the particel tracking ?

Second question

- Is there any hints of the complex particel Settings that I have to make in the propertie file or do I have to check out the code for resolving the variables like SOI ... etc. Furthermore I think it is possible to inject a cloud of particels with different Diameters.

Third question

- If I use icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam the particels are not only moving on the streamlines, aren īt they?

Fourth question

- at the beginning I want to inject some particels into the 2D pitzDaily tutorial. Therefor I solved the flow field with simpleFoam and injected particels with the icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam. The Output of the solver seems okay and particels are injected but I can not see any particel with apraview. The lagrangian field is loaded but there are no particesl?

Thanks in advance and some good hints.
Tobi

Hi Tobi,

I'm sorry I don't have responses for your questions but I think you have the answer I am looking for ^^

Please could you tell me how did you to combine simpleFoam and icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam ?
I need to modelize water droplets in gas, I have already created the gas flow with simpleFoam but I don't know how to inject it in "icoUncoupled[...]Foam", I would like to edit the existing tutorial hopperInitialState but I am really lost as I am a new OpenFoam user.

Thanks in advance for your response

Hey Tobi,

It's been a while since your post, but I am currently working on the same problem.
With your experience, can you now answer your questions from the post?

Thanks for your Info

Cheers

Hi

have you found a solution to your problem yet? I converted everything to IcoUncoupled but don't get Lagrange fields and don't know why. If you have results, could you upload your files?

Regards
Johanning
