twoPhaseEulerFoam Simulations of bubble column

5 Attachment(s)
hello everyone!!!

I am trying to simulate a 2D bubble column (Case: Hills, 1974, Radial Non uniformity of velocity and voidage in the bubble column) with same column dimensions as of Hills. Here I have attached the case files (I cud not upload polymesh folder from constant directory because of high memory. Rest all the files are attached from constant directory.). I have applied setFields for geometry as mentioned in the setFieldDict in folder system. I have simulated this case for Superficial gas velocity (VG) = 19mm/s. I have attached result for Axial Liquid Velocity (U2Mean).

2D Geometry Details:: 0.139(X) x 0.0005(Y) x 1.38(Z).
Mesh is generated in GMSH open source.
Also attached .geo file for mesh.

It has been observed that the magnitude of axial liquid velocity (Z-direction) is maximum in the region where water is not available (refer setFieldDict). How is this possible? Can anybody help me to make it correct?

The governing equations of twoPhaseEulerFoam (momentum equation) are formulated in the phase-intensive form. This leads to non-zero velocities in regions where the corresponding phase is not present, as in your case.
This is discussed in several threads in this forum and it is explained as a consequence of the phase-intensive formulation.
