Industrial Use of OpenFoam

Hi All,

I am just wondering if there are companies that use OpenFoam for industrial purposes??

Thank you,

Hey Mohamed,

I know some water infrastructure consultants use OpenFOAM for flow modelling. I hear through the grapevine some of the automotive companies are looking to change over to OpenFOAM, trying to save on the expensive licensing fees.

In my own company, we are looking to use OpenFOAM as another investigative tool for R&D projects, although results are taken with a grain of salt.

OpenFOAM development is funded by companies using it. You can easily find some big names via Google.

This. Also, we use it as a way to cheaply demonstrate a new concept before pitching for one of the proprietary software.

Hi,

Volkswagen and it's daughter companies like Audi, Seat etc. make heavily use of Openfoam, on ESI webpage you find interview with Dr. Ralph Sundermeier
Head of Functional Calculation Interior and Methods at Volkswagen AG.

You can find out what industries make use of OF when you study presentations on OF specific meetings like http://www.openfoamworkshop.org/
http://wind.nrel.gov/2ndSOWE/ http://www.opensourcecfd.com/conference2013/ etc.
