Hello,
I have to simulate with Openfoam an airfoil with angle of attack impulsively started from rest to a velocity U. This has to give me a starting vortex with the opposite circulation with respect to the circulation around the airfoil. I am considering an incompressible,two-dimensional,transient and laminar problem. I have done the mesh using gmsh. In Openfoam, I am using the PimpleDyMFoam as solver because I think that it could be the most appropiate solver for this problem. However, when I simulate the problem from 0s to 1s with a time step of 0.0001, the simulation gives me some problems at the end. Moreover, I can see that the Courant number is high and not converges when the time is close to 1s. I would like to ask you some questions: 1. What can I do to reduce the Courant number? 2. Do you think that I am planning the problem well (using the right solver, using the right hypothesis, etc)? 3. Do you suggest me using gmsh to do the mesh? 4. How could I know when the simulation is well done? Thanks in advance for your help. |
