hello there,
I am newbie to OpenFOAM. I am having issue with the cavity tutorials on Openfoam. in the plotting graph section in the tutorial guide, we are asked to use 'postProcess -list' command but it does not work.

http://www.openfoam.com/documentatio...#x4-120001.1.4
section 1.1.5.7

'-bash: postProcess: command not found'

Could anyone please help.. i have no idea what to do. any suggestion plz?

thanks
ken

What version of OpenFoam are you using? "postProcess" is a rather new functionality.

Are other OpenFoam commands recognised, e.g.:

Code:
blockMesh -help

hello,
yes blockMesh works but the postProcess no. Im using an older version of OpenFOAM 1.7.1
I was told to use this as it is part of university pcs. no choice to use newer version unless the IT department install them on the PCs.
thanks

Then there you have your answer. Your version does not have that functionality.
So you can either find the old version of that tutorial, or you should consider upgrading.

(I'm hoping OF 1.7.1 is an OF-extend version rather than an OF version, otherwise it is ridiculously old... In that case, I'd consider it non-optional to upgrade. There is no reason to start learning an old version.)

You can use paraView (which is also mentioned in the official OF tutorial) to visualise your solution and extract information.

Hello,

the postProcess utility has been introduced in OpenFOAM-4.0, it is not available in 2.4.x.
