Dear Openfoam experts,

Does anyone know if openfoam can do 3-D heat transfer analysis between solids? The example case is the thermal bridge analysis at corner of window frame as attached.

If openfoam cannot do, is there any other open source software for it?

Many thanks,
Mark

As fa r as I understand is your case a potential problem. Therefore a solver exists and a tutorial too.

Dear Uwe,

Thanks for the reply. Do you know which tutorial should I go after?

Hi all,

I am not sure if Uwe got you right. You just want to have heat transfer between the solids, right? For that purpose you can use the conjugated heat transfer solver namely chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam or chtMultRegionFoam. The latter one is for transient problems. Tutorials are in the $FOAM_TUTORIALS/heatTransfer/chtMulti**/ folder. In addition - if you want - you can also add the corresponding fluids.

One remark. You should first get familiar with the solver and the folder hierarchy before you jump into your case. I see you have a lot of regions so I would make it with bash scripts in order to prevent mistakes.

Good luck
