Hi everyone,

I'm an OpenFOAM's new user and I am trying to simulate the typical case of a laminar flow around a cylinder with heat transfer (3D).
I created the geometries (.igs) of the two different subdomains using CATIA V5 and then I meshed them using ANSA (i am also a new user too).
I have seen that with ANSA it is possible to set up an OpenFOAM case and after the geometries have been meshed, I tried to assign the BCs using the BC TOOLS (OpenFOAM DECKS) but as I export the case as "OpenFOAM Output", the "boundary" file generated in the PolyMesh directory does not include my BCs.

Anyone could help me, please?

Thank you.

akidess will become famous soon enough
The boundary file is not supposed to include your physical BCs.

Dear Christian
You can setup your BCs in ANSA for OpenFOAM.

I suggest you have a look at the CFD tutorial Catalyst for OpenFOAM

You should launch ANSA in CFD mode from the launcher.

There is also a UDF that sets up automatically the boundary conditions on all PIDs based on some user input parameters.

Hope this helps

Best regards
Vangelis

Dear Vangelis,

Thank you very much for your hint!

Just a question...Do you know what type of BC I have to use in order to get the exchange of informations between the interface air-solid?

I was thinking to implement in my script constant/cylinder/polyMesh/boundary a BC called mappedWall but I don't know what sampleRegion and samplePatch stand for.

CYLINDER_GAMMA
{
type mappedWall;
sampleMode nearestPatchFace;
sampleRegion ;
samplePatch ;
startFace 3780;
nFaces 288;
}

best regards,

Christian
