Denisty Current Turbulent Simulation Issues

3 Attachment(s)
Hi All,

I am trying to simulate a density current within a long water tank.
A small section of higher density fluid (salt water = 1060kg/m^3) is on the left and the rest is standard water (1000kg/m^3).

I am using buoyantBoussinesqPimpleFoam for the simulation and it starts as if a lock gate is instantaneously removed.

I believe I have the correct properties for water and correct boundary conditions. I have attached a picture of the initial setup.

However, I have attached a picture of my laminar simulation after the first couple of time steps which is what I would expect.

But for my turbulent flow, the temperature seems to immediately diffusive and I'm not too sure this is correct as in the picture I have attached.

I am comparing to this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ENuf24gEUw
in which you can clearing see the eddies being formed etc.

Does anyone have any ideas why my simulation seems incorrect?
I can send any of the simulation information you may need.

(Also, where is the best place to obtain property values of your medium in question? I assume experimental but I don't know of/can't find a good online source)

Thanks,
Bish
