Dear All,
I am writing to kick off a public discussion on a problematic topic: the OpenFOAM article on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenFOAM Please note: it is by no means my intention to start a major fight here, I am doing this for a practical reason. Recently, a number of students at Uni Zagreb have approached me regarding the OpenFOAM Wikipedia article and asked how it is possible that I am not mentioned at all. Further, they have queried if my contribution to the code and the project is indeed what I think it is, and finally asked me how I can put up with the current status of the article. This was a sign that something must be done. For those who do not know me, I am the original co-author of the code known today as OpenFOAM and I have been working on it since my early days as a PhD student at Imperial College in David Gosman's group. You can find my PhD Thesis describing my work on FOAM at https://foam-extend.fsb.hr/wp-conten...k_PhD_1996.pdf I am also a co-author on the original FOAM paper from 1998, which is a relevant scientific reference to the code: A tensorial approach to computational continuum mechanics using object-oriented techniques by H. G. Weller, G. Tabor, H. Jasak, and C. Fureby Citation: Computers in Physics 12, 620 (1998); doi: 10.1063/1.168744 View online: https://doi.org/10.1063/1.168744 https://aip.scitation.org/doi/pdf/10.1063/1.168744 I have worked on the code continuously since 1993, of which I spent 11 very successful years working with Henry Weller. I was also a technical director of the company named Nabla Ltd which Henry and I started in 2000 in order to commercialise FOAM before its Open Source release in 2004 and the infamous OpenCFD affair. Currently, I run a company called Wikki Ltd and serve as a professor at Uni Zagreb: https://foam-extend.fsb.hr/ as well as manage community contributions to FOAM via foam-extend http://foam-extend.org The current state of the OpenFOAM Wikipedia page is (in my opinion) extremely poor and serves commercial purposes of certain individuals. Having in mind that I have a direct interest in what is written and wish to present a true state of development and current status of OpenFOAM (including the Trademark held by ESI OpenCFD): therefore, it would be very unwise just to start editing the page myself. I am writing to start a discussion on what you think the Wikipedia OpenFOAM page should say and specifically to find a way to present a true state of affairs and history of OpenFOAM developments on this page. Feel free to either post here or express your concerns in the Talk tab of the OpenFOAM Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenFOAM I believe there is a way to find a mutually acceptable and factually correct text - please help me achieve this. Hrv

I took the liberty to extend the history section of the article.
