simulation of 3d print process using a polymere and a heater
 

Hi there,

in my bachelor-Thesis i have to simulate the 3d printing process. We use a polymere (ABS) as the printing-material.
The heater melts the material. It hits the ground and cools down.
So the model is constructed layer by layer.

The aim of the Simulation is to identifiy construction issues before the real Simulation.
So, too hot so melted or structure is too weak so deforms too much(due to gravity or heat)

So i Need the following Things in my Simulation:
multiphase: liquid, melting, solidification
extern force: gravity
friction force of the groundplate
a good temperature-model

Everything should be as accurate as possible.

Is this possible by using openFOAM or do i need a custom Simulation?

to get all this done looks to me more like a PHD Thesis,
far to much for bachelor thesis

How much experience do you have with Openfoam / C++

"openfoam 3d printing" has some hits in google scholar

Did you go thru all the "Kurser" stuff
