stator rotor contacted
Hi,
I am using Openfoam to simulate the rotation of a propeller within a cylinder region. In reality, the stator and rotor have a thin gap. But it is really hard to get a good mesh when the thin gap is included. It is too thin and very very fine mesh needed to resolve this. And then the time step is restricted to 10e-6 due to the courant number requirement. Now I want to remove this gap and let the stator and rotor contact with each other. They will share some faces. But then I don't know how to define the rotating region then. I am using ANSA to generate mesh. Anyone has experience about this could suggest something?? I will be really grateful. Thanks! |
Hi,
I think you should be able to work with ACMI interface, where you can have uncovered faces in the AMI interface act as if they touch a wall. It is similar in set-up as AMI, which can be done in ANSA via the OPENFOAM Deck -> AUXILIARIES -> INTERFACE. Not sure if there is any tutorial available for this. As for the OpenFOAM part, best guess would be to search this forum. Regards, Tom |
Hi Tom,
Thanks for your reply! I searched in the forum and got the same impression that ACMI should be the suitable boundary condition I need. I am now doing some trail test on ACMI. I still a little confused about the interface definition. So thanks for the suggestion about the ANSA, this is exactly what I need now! :D I will update the case when I got some result. Thanks!
