Swirl angle is a useful parameter to describe the inlet performance of a pump suction. It is defined as the ratio of tangential velocity to axial velocity.

Any expert here can explain how to calculate the swirl angle for a given plane in Paraview (possibly based on the calculator filter)? Is it necessary to do the calculation based on the vorticity results, or just the velocity results are used?

Is it appropriate to use the surface integral of vorticity (curl) to find the average tangential velocity?
