Dear Foamers,
I have a 3D blade and a propeller kind of setup (a rotor and 3 blades), I want to see the tip vortices in both of them. As of now I have no idea about that. Any suggestion will be very helpful. For the blade the flow is in +y direction and for the propeller set up the flow is in -ve y direction (in figure into the plane). For the blade y is horizontal and z is vertical. Hoping to get some help. Thanks! |

- Either use streamlines and tube filter for visualization
- Or calculate vortex criteria (vorticity, Lambda2, Q-criterion) at a certain isovalue or threshold. - for restricting to the tip clip the scene to your area of interest |

Thanks for your reply, but no, this is not helping me. Please find the overall set up of my computational domain herewith. In this I have to see/visualize the 3D flow, tip vortex etc. I think I made the computations correct but I am not finding a way to visualize it. As you can see if I slice around z then it becomes an aerofoil and flow is from +ve y direction, if I slice it around x then flow is from left to right. Actually I wanted a slice in z direction to show the aerofoil and the flow in y (streamwise) and z direction. I don't know if I am clear with the question or not. However looking a velocity contours, it seems that I am there are indeed some tip vortices etc, but unfortunately I am not able to see it explicitly. Any help is highly welcomed !
Thanks again ! |

OK, at this point you should look for some basic paraview tutorials. I am sorry, but all this slicing is really confusing me ;-)
In the end, a tip vortex is 3D, so try to keep your visualizations 3D. |

That's the main problem. How to visualize in 3D ? Could you please suggest some videos/pdf etc in this regard. I have really no idea how to visualize flow/vortex in 3D? Because what I understand from the pdf/video is that the inside of the domain can be visualized by wire-frame option, however if I on this with the internal Mesh on, nothing worth can be seen. Please help in this regard.
Thanks ! |

Please provide your setup on google drive. It is more easy for me just creating a paraview state file where you can follow the pipeline....

Many thanks for the help, the set up means the folders of system, constant and 0.orig ? The size is about 3 GB..How to share it in google drive? Please share your gmail id etc. Sorry, but I don't know the other way of sharing? Thanks for the help again!

Chandra,
as folder, one need only constant/polymesh and the last iteration folder and better the system folder. Please, you can remove the stl file from constant/trimesh and the different folder for the processor. 3 GB seems to be a little to big, if you remove the stl file and all the time step expect the last one. Cheers! |

Ok, thanks for the help and looks interesting. Sorry the file size is about 6 GB, how to share this? Please share your gmail id, or any thing site through which it can be shared.
Thanks! |

Sorry for multiple replies, but after zipping it becomes 1.5 GB.
