Hi Foamers. After searching the web for a while on what is the best version of Dakota that works with Ubuntu version 16.04 and OpenFOAM version 4.01 I could not come across with much of information. Surely the answer for the question will be very useful for most people. On top of the former question, it would be most helpful for me and everyone else to know the installation procedures/guides of Dakota 'version#'. @wyldckat (Bruno Santos) and @Tobi (Tobias Holzmann), do you guys have information on this issue?

In the past, I've opted for using a (precompiled) dakota binary instead of compiling from source because I have no intention of modifying the dakota source code. This makes using dakota quite straightforward. Just pick the version you want (I've used 6.5) and put it somewhere logical. Then source the dakota environment and you're good to go.

Caelan, can you please provide me with the pre-built binary version of Dakota. I cannot find it on the Dakota site. The ones saying it is for Linux, cannot be installed on my Ubuntu 16.04. I have tried installing with all the possible instructions on the web, be it from source or as you mentioned, pre-built installation. I have also tried installing different version and no success. Either I am doing mistakes or something else. The instructions on the w/s: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/I...y_Installation say that I have to download the version they specified from Dakota website, but there is no such version of it. I guess they removed it.

Not sure where it went, but I haven't looked for it in years -- precompiled support for linux must have changed at some point. In any case, here is a link to the version I'm using : https://www.dropbox.com/s/q7zchg0dxi...nline.zip?dl=0.
