Hello Foamers,
I'm modelling a cyclic flow channel with OpenFOAM. Though my Reynolds Number is around 3.2E5 the flow does not get turbulent. My domain is 600m long, 130m wide and 130 m height and the cell size is 200 x 400x 50 with simplegrading (1, 200, 1). I impose a current Ubar of 10.5m/s with some non uniform initialilization. The models calculates 10000s of flow. Using the rest configuration same as channel 395 case, LES model= WALE ddt scheme=backward y+= 5-10 delta t=0.05 application =pimpleFoam I'm also attaching the patch summary if needed. Simulation ran till 2500 sec but no such significant eddies are visible. How can I expect to see more turbulent flow in the domain? Last edited by ari003; January 27, 2021 at 12:41. |

0. no one will pull *.docx to check your log. Just paste the pain text where you find the error is likely to generate.
Your y+= 5-10 is in the buffer layer, which is the most tricker region you could play with. In LES, people usually have y+<1, so you need to refine your computational domain in those sensitive region.
