Hi,
I get this error code when running pimpleFoam in parallel on a Slurm cluster: --> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR: problem while reading header for object owner file: /cluster/work/users/sanderho/5_periods_saga/processor93/49608/polyMesh/owner at line 0. From function static Foam::autoPtr<Foam::ISstream> Foam::fileOperations::masterUncollatedFileOperatio n::read(Foam::IOobject&, Foam::label, bool, const fileNameList&, const boolList&) in file global/fileOperations/masterUncollatedFileOperation/masterUncollatedFileOperation.C at line 725. FOAM parallel run exiting The owner files all give this error (see attached text file with only the header as the full file is too big). Does anyone what the error is and how to fix it? Best regards Sander Holum |

1. there is no content? why? did you delete it? 2. the format is binary. i also had difficulties with binary files. did you import the mesh from another meshing software? if so, try to change it to ascii. |

1. The txt.-file was a large binary file, so I only attached the header of the file as that was were the error message referenced.
2. The mesh is imported as a fluent input file which is converted to OpenFOAM by using fluentMeshToFoam However I found out that this error was most likely caused by taking the intial condition from a simulation using mpirun, while on this cluster one has to use srun for parallel computing. The mpirun run was also using OpenFOAM 7 while only OpenFOAM 6 is available on the srun cluster. This has caused some other incompatibility issues. Still working on these compability issues, so might update this post later. Thanks for the help! |

i use fluent for meshing, and when i export the mesh as binary data openfoam does not work properly. so i changed the export format in the settings.

I also have the mesh from fluent exported as ascii. However the simulation runs fine on one proscessor, it is the parallel run which does not work
