Modelling a thermal jet

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to calculate the 3D field of temperatures of a jet in OpenFoam, with no success. I'm new in OpenFoam and I don't really know neither which "case" I have to use inside of the "heatTransfer" folder, neither the exact boundary conditions I have to impose.

I hope you can help me!

Hi again!

I forgot to say that my problem is a discharge of an engine's air (hot) into the onflow, which is also air but cooler and slower.

I suggest to have a close look at the injectorPipe (rhoSimpleFoam) tutorial-case.

Hi again! Do you know if there is any tutorial or website where I can see how to use the injectorPipe? I'm having troubles on extrapolating the case to my problem, and on watching the results.

Hey Rebeca,

difficult to set you on the right track...
Where are you in terms of geometry and mesh? Which meshing tools are you using. What results are you looking for? Is your final goal a transient simulation, or a stationary simulation?

I recently did quite a lot of work with gas mixing with widely ranging temperatures with this solver, so it's all still very fresh in my mind...
