Data not written to folders

Hey everyone,

i am quite new to OpenFOAM and want to simulate plate heat exchangers. I worked from the shell and tube heat exchanger CHTMultiRegionFoam example and used a rather simple geometry consisting of three blocks resembling two fluids and a plate. The import of the .stl works however the log for snappyhexmesh is unreasonably large. The checkMesh command still confirmes that the mesh itself is okay.

My main problem is, that after calculation the usual folders for the solutions at each time step don't apper despite the CHTmultiRegionfoam log stating that indeed the initial conditions change over time. Additionally the reconstructParMesh log does only refer to the mesh a time = constant.

I tried my very best to solve this problem myself, but i haven't made any progress given my limited experience with OpenFOAM.

I hope someone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

I use OpenFoam Version 9 on Ubuntu 21.04

Hey,

so you should first read the OpenFOAM user guide to get a bit familiar with the toolbox. With your description it is hard to give any feedback. Can you simply post your log file and your controlDict ? I expect, that you have not appropriate settings in your controlDict and hence, nothing is written.

Hey,

sorry about the potentially confusing wording of my problem. However i was able to solve the problem. The ControlDict was actually not set up right and the steps to record the solutions were too big.
It does work now and i can keep up and learn more about the toolbox and fix other smaller errors.

But still thank you for replying!
