Again. Good work and I appreciate all the effort you're putting into this.

Proposal for a work-around of the mailing issue: I understand that this is quite taxing for the server, so one possible fix would be to send one EMail to a special mailing list address (for instance on http://sourceforge.net/projects/foam) the mailing list there is set up in such a way that it only accepts mails from the forum and no one else. Then everyone who wants can subscribe to these mailing lists and thus would get almost instant notification.

Nice idea Bernhard. However, I don't think that vBulletin has the feature to send an instant email notification when a post is received, even if it is just one email to one address. To get that to work we will have to write an add-on ourself or install an existing vBulletin add-on. I found one addon with this functionality, but it is not supported and has only been tested on older versions of vBulletin. There are also many bug-reports about it so I'm not sure how well it will work. I will take a look at this next week.
