Hi everybody!!!

I'm trying to use the icoFsiFoam solver for openFoam 1.6 extended. I need to perform FSI problems.

The only thing is that i have a huge mesh and i need to run in parallel. Does anyone know how to compile icoFsiFoam in parallel?

Is there any similar solver for openFoam 1.70?

Please, help me!
Thank you

Stefano

Compile? Do you mean run it in parallel?
Have you learned first how to run OpenFOAM solvers in parallel? If not, first check the User Guide: http://www.openfoam.org/docs/user/da...x7-610002.3.11 - well, you might want to start this tutorial from the beginning first: http://www.openfoam.org/docs/user/damBreak.php

Not that I know of. If I'm not mistaken, FSI usually requires FEM to solve the solid part... but I could be wrong.

Although, I very vaguely remember about something similar for the official OpenFOAM... but I can't remember what it was

Wait... I knew I had read something about this, but apparently I got it the way around: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...-parallel.html
edit: I forgot to mention that I re-found this particular thread by googling for "OpenFOAM FSI parallel"...

Good luck! Best regards,
Bruno

Greetings rolix,

Sorry, I didn't see your message back in April of this year
I got the private message you sent me, but I'll answer here, since this way others can find the answer useful as well.

AFAIK, FSI is currently only present in Extend's variant OpenFOAM 1.6-ext and isn't present in the official OpenFOAM 2.x series.
You can install 1.6-ext by following the instructions available here: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...enFOAM-1.6-ext

As for FSI tutorials, check the tutorial "stressAnalysis/icoFsiFoam/flappingConsoleSmall".

In addition, you might want to have a look into this thread (it's already a long thread, so you might want to read it all first): http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...am-extend.html

Best regards,
Bruno

Hi rolix,

Since you decided to ask me in private once again, I decided to reply to you here instead

As I wrote a month ago in the previous post, the solver icoFsiFoam is only present in 1.6-ext. And it is not compatible with OpenFOAM 2.0.1, because 1.6-ext is very different from 2.0.1.

Nonetheless, you can try Philip Cardiff's "solidMechanics" toolkit for OpenFOAM, as explained here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post432903 - post #69
You can find simpler instructions for OpenFOAM 2.0.x here: https://github.com/wyldckat/solidMechanics/tree/OF20x

Best regards,
Bruno
