Hello,

Does anybody have benchmarks of OpenFOAM in AMD64 Athlon and equivalent Intel Pentium 4 PCs? (say around 3.4, 3.6 GHz)
I cannot afford an Opteron, so IŽll soon have to decide between these 2 possibilities.
I will use this PC mainly for OpenFOAM.
Any help/suggestion is wellcome.

Thanks.

Well, I don't want anyone to see this as a publicity issue for AMD or Intel, but helping a guy who wants to use OpenFOAM and who would like to spend some money on a computer as wise as possible.
My question is: Which processor is faster for OpenFOAM, AMD Athlon 64 3500 MHz 512 KB cache or Intel Pentium 4 3400 MHz 1 MB cache / Intel Pentium 4 640 3200 MHz 2 MB cache?

Or, if not, at least some guidelines for the clock speed and cache value's importance for OpenFOAM.
