Not much except that something seems to be going wrong with the AMG-Solver during a parallel run. I'm not really a specialist on that. Just some questions and pointers:
- Is this a vanilla-1.5 (the way it was released a year ago, without any bugfixes from 1.5.x)? If yes: the problem may or may not have been already solved in that version
- Does this happen during the first timestep and which field is being solved? Have you tried a different solver for that field?
- Look elsewhere on the board for discussion on "floatTransfer" and how to switch it of (it seems to cause problems)
- You could always compile a Debug-Version to get a more defailed view of what is happening, but I dobt that this helps in this case

Dear VW.CFD,

I agree with Bernhard's analysis and would like to add that the traceback can be quite misleading in the sense that the simulation might have gone wrong a long time ago. Please post the log of the last three iterations.

Thank you Bernhard and Henrik for your feedbacks. As you suggested i looked at the field it is beeing solved, in the present case this is for the turbulence parameter 'omega'. But, earlier i had the same error when the solver was solving for the 'pressure'. It is not the first time-step it is after a certain random number of time-steps.

Dear VW.CFD,

the density got unbounded (ie. negative) and then the pressure solver blew up (1000 iterations). There are many possible reasons for this (setup, boundary conditions, numerics of top-level-solver), but your chances to find the problem in the core library where you traceback emerged are very slim.

Dear Henrik,


Thank you again for your views. I have a few more questions since, i am a new user to CFD. I would like you to suggest a numerical scheme for my problem. Let me define my problem to you. I am simulating a two phase flow with one phase as 'oil' and the other as 'air'. There inlet boundary condition is mass inflow with a pressure outflow as exit BC. The geometry is a 20° sector of a cylinder( i am attaching a picture of the mesh file for visualisation). The two side walls are assumed as symmetry planes.

The numerics i have employed is the same as provided for the tutorial test case 'tutorials/rasCavitatingFoam/throttle' . I will repeat the schemes for you i'm using TVD schemes for the Divergence terms and an Unbounded , second order conservative scheme for the Laplacian terms. Turbelence is modelled by the Wilcox K-omega + SST scheme.

Would it be better to use an upwind scheme?? Please give me your suggestions.

did run the case single phase incompressible, yet?

If not, this is the first thing to do!
