Hello!
Is it possible to define non-constant rotating speed in MRFSimpleFoam? For example dependent in the radius, so that there is a sharp cut-off at certain radius? This would save the remeshing of the geometry...

Hello,

I do no exactly know why you want the rotational speed dependent of the radius. I think for most mechanical problems, defining multiple zones with a different rotational speed should be sufficient.

Hey!
Because I had problems of creating the different zones to the geometry. The idea was to use rotating coordinate system in certain part of the geometry (cylinder) and static at the others (inlet and outlet pipes, which connects to the cylinder). I was thinking this could be achieved by setting the rotating speed=0 at the static parts, but don't know how this can be done.

hi.

take a look at the following tutorials:

In the OpenFoam tutorials: MRFSimpleFoam

and online

http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/MRFSimpleFoam

At the end, there is a download link where you can find the full example.

The best way to use your geometry is to name the rotating volume rotor and the stationary volume stator.

Inside the MRFZone file, you can change the rotor speed (rad/s).

Does anyone know how to use MRF with euler multiphase model???
