Hi, I am a relatively new user of openFoam and I am currently trying to use the software to create a simulation of air flow within a computing data centre.

Currently my data centre contains computing units and air conditioning units and ideally I would like to be able to calculate the temperature on the boundaries corresponding to the computing units air inlet regions. However, when using the bouyantSimpleFoam solver and specifying "type calculated;" within the T boundary condition file for the inlets I results in an error. Is there any way of calculating values for these boundary regions?

Thanks for you help in this matter,

Tom

Phrased another way is it possible to calculate the temperature on a boundary, and if so how?

What bcs would you propose for the enthalpy field h? In "thermo" the
boundary types for T are copied into those for h (cf. hThermo.C)
and the latter field requires suitable boundary conditions to enable a solution to be generated for the hEqn.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your reply, after some more stumbling around through the documentation and other sources I think using zeroGradient will achieve what I am after.

Hi Tom,

Did you have any success in modelling the data centre using OpenFoam? Were you able to set all the boundary conditions correctly?

Thanks,
Sam
