Ahaha) great opinion) you are probably right, Niklas, myself as an example need several month without doing anything else to complete a consistent documentation for my solvers and utils. Now it is just a bunch of 100 pages where only I know the trace. But I will ask Henry in Frankfurt anyway)

Spreading OpenFoam is what Hrv Jasak & Hendrik Rusche does by giving
OF Summerschools and supporting the OF Workshops.
Holger Marschall´s (a summerschool participant) intention was to find out where the "leading" OF research groups are, and what their area of expertice was. I remember he was not disapointed what he received but was not allowed to publish.

I think its pretty safe to say that that is not the case.
I am 100% sure that the reason they havent written anything yet is because lack of money and/or time.

A SGI employee that was invited to give a talk at Munich OF-Stammtisch said (not during the offical talk) SGI´s purchase was due to commercial "problems" by OpenCFD. But others at the Stammtisch had doubts and said the purchase was made because SGI feared to lose OpenCFD`s partnership. OpenCFD gave all trainings at SGI´s Training Locations, and Volkswagen (SGI´s largest customer in Europe) was about buying new Clusters!
Cray was able to support OpenFoam on HPC (Cray XE6 => "PRACE" [once again with Cray employee that went thru OF Summerschool])

The fact they dont let anyone else write their documentation is a sign of quality.

I think they feared that ICON could get to much of the OF-cake! => ICON´s "OpenFOAM Conference" had to be renamed into "Open Source CFD International Conference". And that volunteers Code- documentation would be the straw that breaks the camels back. Do not forget that it would be peer reviewed by OF users and their feedback.
Just one more question! Would you send your lawyer to someone who co-reviews your government funded contract, just because of a ridiculous hobby project?

Dear all,

I think it's really of no significance what has been done by whom and when. It just doesn't matter, since this was of no effect and no impact as of today. I.e., it's past since a couple of years now.

This thread has been viewed over 33,570 times and over 240 posts are in here. Just thinking of the situation today, if these efforts and energy would have been devoted to reviewed, precise and concise technical documentation... even targeted at a very limited aspect of FOAM technology, like the library's top-level applications as intended by the documentation project. Certainly, this would have been a win-win scenario for all.

best regards,
