only hexahedra??? Really??

Hello everyone,
after meshing with snappy, I ran checkMesh to see the quality of the mesh. CheckMesh states that I only have hexahedra. After viewing the mesh in Paraview, I noticed that there are also other types of elements. Can someone give me a short explanation for this? Thanks, Patrick |
Hi Patrick,
you seem to have a quadratic (hexaedral) mesh. In case of quadratic meshes every edge of a hexaedron is defined by 3 points. So your elements look different from the ordinary ones and they are a different element type to. There is a converter utility in OpenFOAM, if you don't like these elements. Regards, Robert |
Hi Robert,
Can you give me the command for the conversion, quadratic mesh to pure hexahedra mesh? Are there also other mesh converters that change the type of the cells (hexahedra to tetrahedra)? Thanks for your help. Patrick |
I'm sorry Patrick,
I found this utility anywhere in the net but it got lost after a systen crash, so I can't post it. :( Anyway I never missed it because ideasUNVToFoam not supports quadratic elements. Maybe there is a solution the other way around just to prevent these celltypes but I'm not experienced with snappy. sry, Robert |
No problem, I'll continue looking. Thank you for your help.
