lets take a example to illustrate my question. Consider "rhopSonicFoam" solver.

its a Pressure-Density based compressible solver. how to decide what type of fluid properties to define i.e thermodynamic or thermophysical and also whether its a steady state solver or not and what are to be included in controlDict file.

One more question.. how to solve a steady state problem. In Fluent we give the convergence criteria, similarly how to represent in OpenFoam for a steady state problem.

thanks in advance

Hi,

regarding the steady state problem - in OF there is simpleFoam (Steady-state solver for incompressible, turbulent flow; in addition, it works well for the laminar flow of non-Newtonian fluids!). Of course, you can set convergence criteria (like in Fluent or CFX) and the pyFoamSteadyRunner.py (I think it is a Python library) stops the OF solver (simpleFoam) when all linear solvers are below threshold (converged solution) and the last simulation state is written to dis. More on this (PyFoam) can be found here

http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib_PyFoam

Hope this help!

Enjoy,
Primoz

Hi Primoz,

Thanks for the reply.
I want to solve Inviscid Compressible steady state flow problem. Two solvers are available in OF, "rhopSonicFoam" & "rhoSonicFoam", so how to set the convergence criteria instead of end time.

thanks
