Hi everybody!

I'm a newbie in Openfoam and i wanted to ask u something related to interfaces. I used for a long time Gambit and there it's possible to create a interface in such a way that two adjacent volumes can have a different mesh model but thanks to the interface condition FLUENT was able to interpolate from one to the other.

My question is if it's possible to do it in Openfoam as well? I created my mesh in Gambit and knowing that it can be imported in Openfoam i wasnt sure how to perform that condition...

Any help is welcome, so please i'd appreciate any advice...

Regards,

Munoz.

Dependent on how your meshes look like you can try converting the interface-cells to polyhedrals (stichMesh, 1.6.x or 1.5-dev). However, this may fail/damage your mesh.
Instead of this you can use the ggi-Feature (generic grid interface, 1.5-dev only!). It is stable and validated but slow on very large cases due to improveable parallelisation.

thanks bastil!

so does it mean that there is no way to input a interface condition to a surface like in FLUENT, no? damn it! therefore i should try to create a better mesh...

No that is wrong.. The GGI in OpenFOAM is the same than an Interface in FLUENT.

woo sorry, u're right, i misunderstood ur post...however this of being slow...it's also slower in fluent than not using it, does it work in the same way in OpenFoam or it's even slower than FLUENT one?

I did not realise FLUENT to be much slower with it. However, OpenFOAM can slow down (dependent on model size, number of interfaces and number of cores to run on) significantly.
