Solver for drag analysis

Hallo,

first of all i'm very new to OpenFOAM, and i have to calculate the drag of different directional antennas. So my fist question is what solver is the best for dragcalculation for normal wind situations (with turbulence)?

I have allready read the User Guide, but as i am just a aeronautical student the programming stuff is not very clear to me.

if i have understood the user guide, the pisoFoam solver should fit into my requierements. Does anyone can proof this?

thanks,

Hi draufunddran,

pisoFoam should do a good job for your application if you are anticipating unsteady effects. It might be a good idea to start with simpleFoam and see what that gives you, then move onto pisoFoam. Depending on your Re, you might obtain similar results from both.
