SPHysics or other free SPH codes
Hello!
I was looking for free, general purpose smooth particle hydrodynamics codes, and google showed some hits for SPHysics in this forum. I am required to compare SPH methods and mesh refined FVM for a student project. Is SPHysics useful to get started with SPH? Or are free SPH codes available that are either more advanced, have better performance or better documentation than SPHysics? Henrike |
Hi, Henrike,
I looked into SPH sometimes ago. Another code besides SPHysics is www.opentissue.org (http://www.opentissue.org/OpenTissue/media.php) If DEM solver will do for you, you can try www.liggghts.com http://yade-dem.org Pei |
Thanks for the links, but I am still looking for the ideal SPH code.
Does Gadget allow to calculate free surface hydrodynamics although it is mostly used by cosmologists? Or does SPH for water flow require additional terms (surface tension, boundary conditions?) that are not implemented in cosmological simulations? Henrike |
