Electric Field With Space Charge

Hi,

I want to solve for a electric field with space charge in it. Say it is 2D, with two plate electrode and known voltage, and the charge density distribution is also known(a function of x,y).

With this space charge, the electric field need to be solved by Poisson equation as follows:

laplacian(phi)= -rho/e.

where phi is the electric potential(Volt), rho is the space charge density(C/M^3), e is the elementary charge(C).

I am new to OpenFOAM, could you guys give me some advice on how could I set up the model to solve it.

Thanks a lot!!!

ElectrostaticFoam is intended to do this kind of simulation. The chargedWire tutorial gives an example of the case set-up. You will find the tutorial in /OpenFOAM-1.6/tutorials/electromagnetics/electrostaticFoam/chargedWire.

Yeah, I run this charged wire tutorial. But there is no space charge(ions) in the domain, how could I modify it to meet my needs?
