Hi all,

i try to simulate a flow in a pipe.
in the middle of the pipe, i try to implement a valve which should open when the pressure difference is high enough otherwise it should be closed.
so, are there any examples in the tutorials where valves are used?
how can i implement a valve?

thx for reading and i hope you make some suggestions.

There are valves in the engine section
https://openfoam-extend.svn.sourcefo...e/engineValve/

https://openfoam-extend.svn.sourcefo...elEngineValve/

https://openfoam-extend.svn.sourcefo...sSlidingValve/

https://openfoam-extend.svn.sourcefo.../thoboisValve/
in Case you use OpenFOAM (extend/dev)

http://repo.or.cz/w/OpenFOAM-1.6.x.g...ne/engineValve
if you use OF1.6.x-GIT

Hi thx for your answer.

i am new to OF so i donīt understand those scripts at all.

my problem is quite simple, i think.

must i really create those scripts or are there any easier ways?

or what elements can be copied for this problem?

thx for your patience

Well there are also the tutorials that deal with this stuff.
If you want to simulate s.th. with a real physical meaning (and behavior of an valve) you should take a deeper look into this stuff.
An alternative might be a Boundary Condition that behaves according to your valve but not much easier to implement in my opinion.
Are you doing a real world engineering problem or is your stuff going more in the gaming direction? In case of gaming take a look at blender and its cfd capabilaties. Not bad at all!

To read more the about the "advanced" stuff you want to do http://web.student.chalmers.se/group...ynamicMesh.pdf

At the workshop in Gothenburg the "advanced users" gonna work on OF's dynamic mesh capabilaties that includes valves. Not easy for a beginner!
