How to Contour plot for omega_z ??

1 Attachment(s)
Hello Everybody,
I am working on vortex shedding of a cylinder in cross flow.
I want to plot the contour plots of vorticity in z direction so that i can see the positive and negative vortices. So i used the utility vorticity in Openfoam to calculate the same. Now while plotting the contour plots the only thing available is magnitude of vorticity(magVorticity in Openfoam). Therefore I am not able to see the positive and negative vortices.
Please let me know how to plot the contour plots for vorticity in z direction.
Also for reference I have attached the countour plot of magVorticity.
Any help will be aprreciated.
Thank you very much.

Hii Snehal,

The vorticity utility gives vorticityX,Y andZ directly. So i don't think you should have a problem anymore.

Hi Snehal,

You can calculate the x, y, z components of vorticity by "foamCalc components vorticity". Then you'll be able to see vorticityx, vorticityy and vorticityz in ParaView.

Cheers!

vorticity problem

Hi,
I have the same problem
Do you mean that one should type "foamCalc..." in terminal?
Thanks a lot
