Species Specific Fields

Hi Foamers - Does anyone know if there is a utility or other method that would allow me to view results for individual species? Specifically, I would like to know velocity and density profiles for different species in a flow.

Also, does anyone know if there is a utility that outputs local Knudsen and Courant numbers (on a cell by cell basis)?

Thanks for any and all help.

Dear hypersion,

if you are modeling single phase flow, it is impossible to calculate the velocity and density of each species. To do that you should use the a momentum equation for each specie.
I think you are modeling something special not just single phase flow because you are asking about Knudsen number. It will be better to give a brief about your case.

Hassan

Hi Hassan - Thanks for replying. I am trying to run the dsmcFOAM application. The case involves a vapor of one species expanding into low pressure inert gas of another species. I would like to know the velocity and density, or at least concentration, of the expanding gas. This is an application of rarefied gas dynamics, which is why I would also like to know local Knudsen numbers. Thanks again.

Unfortunately I have no experience with dsmcFoam. I felt that you are doing something like that but your title and question was not clear enough.
I think it is now clear and I hope some dsmc foamer will help you soon. :-)
