Hi Foamers !

I am trying to study a turbulent flow in a duct, and more precisely the heat transfer on the walls of this duct.
I used buoyantPisoFoam, with the following LESProperties :

LESModel oneEqEddy;

delta vanDriest;

printCoeffs on;

turbulence on;

But I have just seen on the wiki that buoyantBoussinesqPisoFoam makes a specific assumption for turbulent SGS model.

So my question is : are my simulations relevant, or may I use buoyantBoussinesqPisoFoam ?

Thank you in advance for your comments/ideas.

Hi,

buoyantPisoFoam is a transient solver for compressible fluid and buoyantBoussinesqPisoFoam is a transient solver for incompressible fluid where density variation is approximated using Boussinesq assumption. Applicable solver depends on the problem. If temperature variation is not much and you want to use incompressible flow simulation, you should use buoyantBoussinesqPisoFoam. If your problem is steady-state in nature, you can use buoyantBoussinesqSimpleFoam/buoyantSimpleFoam. I think there is particular reason to use LES turbulence model instead RAS model.

Hope this will help you.

Hi,

Thank you very much for those explanations, I feel more confident in buoyantPisoFoam now ^^
