Jet Flow using OpenFoam
 
Hi everyboy,
Has anybody have any experience in modelling jet flow and analysing CHT using Openfoam please?

Hi,
CHT mean Conjugate Heat Transfer.
I am interested in air flow jets past objects with some kind of
heat source (i.e. heat flux, temperatrure, etc..), and consequently this constitues a CHT problem.
Evidently the BCS are important in this kind of analysis and was wondering if they are some available OpenFoam cases.
If so I would be grateful if anybody could showm some useful links, etc..

Have a look at chtmultiregionFoam and rhoPimpleFoam. rhoPimpleFoam is more straightforward to set up.

Hello Zinedine,
I have not studied the chtMultiregionFoam intensively but I had set up some simple cases on it for my Prof. Actually chtMultiregionFoam can be used to study problems where you have different regions like solid and fluid and you want to study the effects due to conduction in the solid and convection of heat due to to fluid. So you have a solid part solver and and fluid part solver.

The solid part solver in chtMultiRegionFoam is simply the heat conduction equation (this is the entire unmodified solveSolids.H)
The fluid solver, although one of the simpler, boyancy driven flow, is significantly more complex than the thermal equation. The flow equations are solved by separating flow parameters in density, pressure and velocity, solving these independently or recursively.
The thermal solver for the fluid region is essentially the same as for the solid part, although the variable solved for is the thermal energy rather than the temperature, as conventions differ between solid mechanics and fluid mechanics.

siince the boundary conditions have to be defined properly for the fluid region and the solid region and the interface between. You have to set a lot of things based on your problem.

I think in rhoPimplefoam you solve the fluid equations only with the energy equation.
You can find some explanation on the forum search for the name of the solvers.

Actually through one of the thread in CFd-online I manged to get some
useful notes regarding "chtmultiregionFoam":

Interesting brief note explaining the solver.

I just wonderign if one had any experince in setting up a cse with the aforementioned sover and clearly BCs are crucial.
