Hello All,

I have q eustion about setup of thermo-physical properties file for dieselFOAM solver.

The fuel C7H16 is for liquid drop, which evaporates and mixes with the surrounging air. When it evaproates it is in vapor phase and not liquid phase. But in thermophysicalPorperties file, we specify C7H16 as liquid component as below.

DOes that mean that it will C7H16 as liquid when it is solving gas-phase reaction. I just want to confirm. If not then why do specifiy C7H16 as liquid in thermophysicalProperties file?

Thanks,
Nir

The answer is yes... and no....It does what you tell it.
If you want it to evaporate to heptane it does that,
if you want it to evaporate into water you can do that.
It would be a bit weird, but its possible.
But since you havent specified your input file I dont know what it does.

Anyways, I've tried to describe it on these pages

So as I understand C7H16 is considered as gas phase species in the gas phase reaction and the liquid properties is only considered during calculation of diesel droplet energy equation.

The chemkin input file is as belows (as given in the tutorial) and C7H16 is considered as the gaseous species (i.e. gaseous properties of C7H16 is considered),
